After working as a freelance theatre artist and educator in and around West Virginia for almost ten years, Jason A. Young founded his own theatre company in 2012.
Based in Clarksburg, VTC offers entertainment and education through improvisational and sketch comedy with The Fearless Fools, Shakespeare productions and workshops with The Rustic Mechanicals, operatic and a capella performances with Montani Cantanti, fundraising opportunities with Comedy for a Cause murder mysteries, and performance training and college preparation with The VTC Academy.
VTC is also responsible for producing the annual West Virginia Comedy Festival, West Virginia Playwrights Festival, and the Harrison County Theatre Awards.
Vintage Theatre prides itself on its ability to bring the performing arts by West Virginians to West Virginians.
As the state’s newest professional, non-union, theatre company, VTC enriches the communities they serve economically, socially, and culturally.
VTC’s organizations provide oppprtunities for those in the region to professionally use the skills they honed in school without leaving home. In turn, while on tour throughout the Mountian State, these performers and even audience members from outside the area pay for housing and food and shopping at local businesses; therefore, the community not only benefits from the cultural performance but also through the financial contributions.
These artists are also available for workshops for schools and even corporations. These trainings boost communication skills through listening and building upon ideas and confidence through a safe setting where participants learn it is safe to fail and how to use the failure to eventually succeed.
Vintage Theatre Company works to be the best of a certain kind and to share that product with the best of the country, West Virginia.
